Koffee With Karan

With a total of 6 seasons and 135 episodes, the show became one of the longest-running talk shows in India. The producers of the show include Fazila Allana and Kamna Nirula Menezes. The first episode of KKK aired on the 19th of November, 2004 and after 18 years of its launch also, the show didn’t lose its popularity. Due to this, the makers decided to launch another season as well. 

The show featured almost all the popular stars of Bollywood, from the three Khans to Ajay Devgn to Madhuri Dixit to the new stars, such as Vicky Kaushal, Aditya Roy Kapoor, etc. The show keeps introducing new contestants and also bringing back the ones who already attended the show. On the show, he asks the guests a few questions and chats with them over a cup of coffee. It also includes games, such as Rapid Fire, Call a Friend, etc. to gift the winners and entertain the viewers. Recently, Karan Johar pranked on social media about not releasing the seventh season. This led to a fire on social media and users filled his picture with sad comments and requests. 

Satyamev Jayate

Aamir Khan entered the Television industry with the show “Satyamev Jayate” in 2012. The show touches on the sensitive social issues that prevail in India, for instance, child sexual abuse, female foeticide, honour killings, rape, domestic violence, discrimination and untouchability. The users can come to the show by participating through their homes and answering a few questions. When a contestant comes to the show, Amitabh asks him/her a few questions which let the contestants step up the ladder of cash prizes, and finally win crores of rupees. The show consists of a total of 1010 episodes in 14 seasons beginning from the year 2000. Celebrities, such as Shah Rukh Khan, Ayushmann Khurrana, Vaani Kapoor, etc. came on the show as guests. 

The Anupam Kher Show – Kucch Bhi Ho Sakta Hai

The veteran actor, Anupam Kher brought to us this talk show, similar to Koffee With Karan. The show featured a new celebrity every week, beginning with Shah Rukh Khan. It began in 2014 and continued for two long seasons, ending in 2015. Herman D’Souza produced the show with a total of 25 episodes. Everyone from old veteran actors, such as Rishi Kapoor, Waheeda Rehman and Asha Parekh to middle age actors, such as Akshay Kumar, Vidya Balan and Priyanka Chopra to Gen Z actors, such as Alia Bhatt, Varun Dhawan and Aditya Roy Kapoor. The celebrities share some stories from their lives that prove the show’s theory that “Anything can happen”. 

The show arouses interest in viewers’ minds because it lets them know some unknown facts about the lives of celebrities that appear perfect on the outside. Though the show lasted only for a couple of years, it received immense love and popularity during those years. Anupam Kher also made his television debut with this hit show. 

Yaaron Ki Baraat

Another talk show that features Bollywood celebrities on their show to chit-chat with them. Riteish Deshmukh and Sajid Khan hosted the show. It only ran for a couple of months at the end of 2016. The show featured some of the most popular Bollywood celebrities, such as Amitabh Bachchan, Shatrughan Sinha, Farah Khan, Karan Johar, Parineeti Chopra and Sania Mirza. 

In this light-hearted comedy talk show, celebrities who share a strong friendship, are invited for a candid chat. The celebrities make some funny revelations and confessions about their lives and friendship. With their quirky one-liners and comic timing, the hosts add their own touch of fun and quirky humour to the show in the 17 episodes. 

Tere Mere Beach Mein

Under the banner of Red Chillies Idiot Box, Shah Rukh Khan produced this talk show. The Bollywood choreographer and director Farah Khan hosted this show. The show ran for around 3 months featuring 13 episodes. The celebrities that made it to the show include Kareena Kapoor Khan, Priyanka Chopra, Shahrukh Khan, Deepika Padukone, Asin Thottumkal, Irfan Pathan, Vijender Singh, Yusuf Pathan, Shahid Kapoor and various others. Khans began the show and ended it as well, i.e., Salman Khan came with his mother in the first episode and Shah Rukh Khan appeared in the last one. 

The thing that sets this show apart from other celebrity talk shows is the show’s theme. Each episode revolves around a theme. The host invites celebrity guests that suit the theme. For instance, in the episode ‘Chote Sheher Bade Sapne’, Vijender Singh and Priyanka Chopra appeared on the show as they rose from a small city to achieve something big. In ‘Josh Jawan Hindustan Ka’, Deepika Padukone and Asin Thottumkal were called as they made their careers at a young age. The guests, who appear on the show also receive donations for the charities they support. They also bring their personal belongings to be auctioned for charity. Iqbal Pasha, a common man reunited with his family after eight years as he shared his story on the show. 

Aap Ki Adalat

Hosted by the Padma Bhushan journalist Rajat Sharma, the show takes us back to the 90s. The show began in 1993, making it India’s longest-running and also the strongest running television show. The set-up of the show depicts a courtroom, wherein a celebrity appointed as a witness faces Rajat Sharma, who acts like a lawyer. Personalities, ranging from top politicians and Bollywood stars to sportsmen and spiritual gurus gets grilled on the show. They pour out all sorts of emotions – some browbeat, some defend and some shed tears. 

Narendra Modi’s episode in the show just before the 2014 general election broke all rating records. It attracted 74 per cent of Hindi news television viewers. It features celebrities such as Kangana Ranaut, Imran Khan, Amit Shah, Salman Khan and many others. 

Back Benchers

An Indian celebrity quiz show hosted by the film producer and director, Farah Khan features a total of 20 episodes in a single season. It was released in the year 2019. In the show, Bollywood celebrities act as the students and Farah acts as the Dean of the school. Every episode shows stars trying to get the position of a Back Bencher in the class. It puts the guests in the hot seat, asking them questions based on their general knowledge through oral as well as written tests. Tapsee Pannu, Bhumi Pednekar, Rohit Shetty, Jacqueline Fernandez and many others appeared on the show. 

Jeena Isi Ka Naam Hai

The show, hosted initially by the actor Farooq Shaikh and later, the actor Suresh Oberoi replacing him features 97 episodes in total with 2 seasons. Sucharita Ghosh and NDTV produced the first season and Shashi Ranjan produced the second season. Like other celebrity shows, it featured interviews with Bollywood personalities and other Indian celebrities. The celebrities that came to the show include Laloo Prasad Yadav, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Yuvraj Singh, Hema Malini and many more. Premiered in 2002, the show aired its final episode in 2006. The show revealed some unknown facts about the lives of popular celebrities. Unfortunately, we lost the legendary actor, Farooq Shaikh, the host in 2013.

Comedy Nights with Kapil

A language sketch comedy and celebrity talk show hosted by the comedian-actor Kapil Sharma features 191 episodes in total. The show featured celebrities like Kapil Sharma, Navjot Singh Sidhu, Ali Asgar, Sunil Grover, Kiku Sharda and others. Usually set up on comedy scripts and roles, many of the episodes feature celebrity guests who appear on the show to promote their latest films in a comedy-focused talk show format. Celebrities like Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone and Rohit Shetty appeared for Chennai Express, Irrfan Khan and Arjun Rampal came for D-Day. However, after running successfully for three years, Kapil Sharma decided to wind up the show after differences with the channel Colors on which it aired.
