After Abhishek Bachchan and Saif Ali Khan, we have more prominent Bollywood Celebrities who are set to make their OTT Debut in 2021. Some of them have already made their debut in this platform in the first half of 2021; but we still have others to look forward to. With Lara Dutta making her digital debut with comedy-drama Hundred, in association with Disney+Hotstar and Saif Ali Khan making a successful comeback with Netflix originals Sacred Games; OTT platform has given many celebrities new opportunities for comebacks.
1. Shahid Kapoor
Shahid Kapoor will make his digital debut in 2021 with an action-thriller series. And he further announced that he is working with none other than Raj Nidimoru and Krishna DK, popularly known as Raj &DK. Although the series is untitled for the time being. He will star opposite Rashi Khanna. And reportedly, this is an exciting project an we will get to see Shahid in action genre after a long time. Shahid Kapoor is working on his upcoming movie Jersey as well besides this series.
2. Madhuri Dixit Nene
Madhuri Dixit Nene needs no introduction, she’s the perfect definition for “ageing like a fine wine”. Although she makes small appearances in movies at times, but she’s mostly busy with reality dance shows on TV. And it came as a surprise when the announcement for Finding Anamika was made. Finding Anamika is an upcoming suspense drama series in which a superstar goes missing. The show revolves around shocking lies and secrets to keep us on edge.
3. Juhi Chawla
Juhi Chawla will also make her OTT debut soon. Amazon Prime Video recently made an announcement regarding its next upcoming series. It will also star many female celebrities, including Karishma Tanna, Sahana Goswami, Soha Ali Khan amongst others. The show is called Hush Hush, and it’s a women-centric series. Supposedly it is going to be a thriller drama.
4. Ajay Devgan
Rudra – The Edge Of Darkness is Ajay Devgan’s upcoming project, and it will mark his debut in the digital platform. His debut project is a crime-thriller drama, Rudra – The Edge Of Darkness. And reportedly, it is based on Luther, the British series . During an interview Ajay mentioned that it’s a highly intriguing story, and its not new for him to be playing a cop. Furthermore, the character is quite intense and might turn out to be the greyest character he has ever pulled off.
5. Sonakshi Sinha
Sonakshi Sinha made her debut with none other than Salman Khan, and she had created a lot of buzz on her arrival. She has also given some impactful performances in Bollywood. And she is yet another star to join the OTT hurdle. Her upcoming web series is tentatively titled as Fallen, and Sonakshi portrays Anjali Bharti, the role of a cop. Furthermore, it is based on a real story. The shoot was wrapped up in March, this year.
6. Akshay Kumar
Akshay Kumar was supposed to go on floors with his upcoming debut in the digital platform in 2020 itself with this series. But due to the pandemic the shoot was postponed. And it is finally on track and will be released hopefully by the end of 2021. The name of his upcoming series is The End, and reportedly it is a reality show. Although he did make his debut on the OTT with his horror movie Laxmii in November 2020.
7. Raveena Tandon
Raveena Tandon made her comeback into the world of acting after a long break, with her debut in Aranyak. Furthermore, Aranyak is a thriller-drama web series where Raveena portrays the role of a cop; who is investigating local murder amongst political agendas and also stereotypical myths. A netflix original, Aranyak premiered on 18 April 2021.
8. Kajol
Kajol once again stole all the limelight with her OTT debut, Tribhanga, a netflix original movie. It also stars Mithila Palkar and Tanvi Azmi in prominent roles alongside Kajol. Moreover, the movie revolves around these three women, with Kajol leading the way. The movie released on 15 January 2021 on netflix.
9. Sushmita Sen
After taking a break of more than 13 years, Sushmita made her comeback to the screens with her OTT Debut Aarya. Aarya is a Hotstar Original and it also released on 19 June 2020. It is a crime drama that revolves around an independent woman who, in order to protect her family joins a mafia gang. And she also decides to get revenge for her husband’s murder.
10. Vidya Balan
Vidya Balan made her OTT debut with Amazon Prime release, Shakuntala Devi in 2020. Moreover, the movie is based on the real life of genius mathematician Shakuntala Devi, portrayed beautifully by Vidya Balan. Furthermore she will soon make her Second OTT release with her upcoming movie, Sherni on Prime on 18 June 2021.
